Expanding Solar Power Across Our Irish Operations

At Lindab Ireland, we’re taking measurable steps toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.
Over recent months, new solar systems have been installed across our two Ballycoolin facilities and at A.C. Manufacturing, our main production site.

Together, these systems now generate over 50,000 kWh of clean electricity every year — powering our warehouses, offices, and manufacturing operations with renewable energy.

This marks another important milestone in reducing our emissions, lowering grid reliance, and building long-term energy resilience.

Building for Tomorrow: Smart Energy Storage

Energy Data

We’re now exploring solar battery systems to capture surplus energy generated onsite — ensuring that our own clean power can be used even during evenings or periods of low yield.

This next step will strengthen our energy resilience, support Ireland’s renewable energy transition, and make our operations even more efficient and sustainable.

Certified Renewable Energy with Becour

To complement our onsite generation, Lindab Ireland has partnered with Becour to ensure that 100% of our electricity use across Ireland is verified as renewable.

Through the purchase of Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs), we can confidently match every unit of electricity we consume with certified renewable energy supplied to the grid.

These certificates provide independent, verifiable proof that an equivalent amount of renewable energy has been produced — helping us meet our Scope 2 decarbonisation goals and reinforcing our commitment to clean, traceable energy.

What Are Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs)?

Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) are recognised instruments that track and verify renewable energy production. Each certificate represents proof that one megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable electricity has been generated and added to the grid.

By securing EACs linked to verified renewable sources, companies can demonstrate — transparently and credibly — that their electricity consumption supports renewable generation.

For Lindab Ireland, EACs play a key role in combining physical renewable generation (our own solar power) with certificate-based coverage, ensuring complete renewable energy alignment across our operations.

Our Renewable Source: Borgund Hydropower Plant, Norway

Our EACs are linked to Østfold Energi’s Borgund Hydropower Plant in Lærdal, Norway — producing more than 985 GWh of clean electricity annually.

Beyond generating renewable power, Borgund supports river restoration and salmon habitat projects, showing how clean energy and biodiversity protection can thrive together.

A special thank you to Becour — and particularly Nina Gulbrandsen — for their collaboration and transparency in making this possible.

Visible. Verifiable. Renewable.

At Lindab Ireland, sustainability is not just a commitment — it’s measurable progress.
By combining onsite solar generation with certified renewable sourcing, we’ve achieved 100% clean energy coverage across our Irish operations.

Together with our partners and teams, we’re continuing to invest in a more resilient, transparent, and sustainable future — one powered by renewable energy.
