Fire Protection Product Junior Engineer

Lindab - Ireland’s leading supplier of Ventilation products, is seeking a Junior Engineer to join their team.

Role Purpose

The Fire Protection Product Junior Engineer will support the delivery of HVAC fire protection solutions by assisting senior engineers with technical support, site inspections, and product applications. The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical engineering skills and gain hands-on experience in fire dampers, fire damper control systems, and passive fire protection.

Working closely with contractors, consultants, manufacturers, and internal teams, the Junior Engineer will learn how to ensure systems are correctly installed, tested, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations. The role combines office-based technical support with regular site visits, providing a strong foundation for career development within the fire protection industry.

Key Responsibilities

Site Support & Inspections

· Inspect fire damper installations on site (including FOK installations) for compliance with technical manuals, standards and project specifications.

· Identify installation issues and report findings using photographs and digital reporting tools.

· Assist with office-based technical support for electrical and mechanical contractors.

· Provide technical workshops on site for electrical and mechanical (ducting) contractors.

Technical Support

· Develop an understanding of HVAC fire protection products and their applications.

· Assist with technical queries from contractors, consultants, and clients.

· Learn to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and installation details.

· Support coordination between design requirements and site installation.

· Assist in preparing technical documentation, reports, and product information.

Learning & Development

· Gain knowledge of fire dampers, fire damper control systems, and relevant fire safety legislation.

· Attend internal and external product training sessions.

· Develop an understanding of applicable Irish Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance, and relevant European standards.

· Build confidence in providing technical advice with support from senior engineers.

Client & Business Support

· Attend project meetings and design meetings alongside senior engineers.

· Assist with maintaining strong relationships with contractors, and clients.

· Support the preparation of maintenance quotations and schedules.

· Assist with trade shows, exhibitions, CPD presentations, and training events where required.

Skills & Competencies

· Interest in Building Services Engineering and fire protection systems.

· Willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to read and understand technical drawings (or willingness to learn).

· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.

· Positive attitude with a proactive approach to problem solving.

Education & Experience

· Full driving licence (required for site visits - Essential)

Advantageous but not essential:

· Placement or previous experience within Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or Fire Protection

· Knowledge of ventilation systems or fire dampers.

· Previous experience working on construction sites or with M&E contractors.

· Previous experience in HVAC and fire protection systems.

· Qualification in a mechanical or electrical trade, such as Electrical, Plumbing, or HVAC

· Qualification (or working towards a qualification) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.

 

Salary & Benefits

· Competitive salary: €40,000 basic, negotiable depending on experience.
